Steve McCurry: A Retrospective

Last year I was lucky enough to see Steve McCurry's Retrospective exhibition at the Birmingham museum.
As Steve was the 2011recipient of the Leica Hall of Fame award, Leica produced the following video, which is practically the whole show.
Not as good as seeing it in person but still well worth watching.
Enjoy

Name Change

You might have noticed that the name of this website has changed. In a few days the address should change as well, probably to "http://photoredux.blogspot.com" but if you can't find it after the change then try http://fstopsandarthritis.blogspot.com/ where I will be posting the final address.

Why change it? Well, photo motivate was a different blog serving a different purpose and as this site is about restarting an old hobby the new name seemed more appropriate.

Once the address changes I will make a start, and as I assume most people will be using a digital camera, I will be beginning with computer and software choices. However, if you want to use film and you're not intending to scan your negatives you might want to check back later.

Edit.

Obviously,  the new name is "I Pointed & Shot It" which you know or else you wouldn't be reading this but photomotivate is still running (for the moment) although it will no longer be updated, not that there have been many (any) updates for around 12 months. It will be finally be deleted on the 1st January 2012.

Also, the whole online course thing is not going to happen... sort of. Let me explain, I am going to be logging my own progress while relearning photography rather than teaching it to others. However, if someone wants to follow along and copy what I'm doing I will be more than happy.

It Lives!!!

Yes, Photo Motivate rises once again. This time it is to be mainly used for the study of photography instead of a photo-a-day site.

Not everything will be about photography though, it is a personal blog after all and I will be using it as such but most of the posts will take the form of an online photography course with course materials coming from various sources including books, videos and even a little of my personal experience (though not too much) and will take the view that just I'm starting photography for the first time. This is because that I want to take my skills back to basics and fill in the many missing gaps in my knowledge.

There will be a slow start though as actual photography won't start properly until late september as I will be shadowing schools and colleges term times so I can pace myself in order to prevent burn-out. Early posts will focus on setting up computers and choosing equipment but I hope you will find something to peek your interest.

P.S. If you really must check out the old posts, they have now been moved to my other forgotten blog
and will stay there for the time being.
